Building a retail & distribution security process from the ground up

Client type: A growing beauty brand expanding from online and wholesale into their first physical retail store

The challenge:

This client had built a successful business supplying beauty products online and through wholesale channels, including industry professionals such as hairdressers. As they prepared to open their first physical retail store, they recognised that they didn’t yet have the security infrastructure, processes or protocols required for a retail environment.

The beauty sector carries a naturally higher risk of stock loss: many products are small, high-value and easily concealable. With no established in-store security function, the client needed support to assess the site, understand risks and create an appropriate framework for both their new retail store and their distribution workflow.

Our solution:

Site assessment and security planning

We carried out a full assessment of the store’s risks, drawing on our operational experience and our knowledge of local and national intelligence. This allowed us to identify vulnerabilities and recommend an appropriate security model tailored to the location and product range.

Full-time manned guarding

We provided a dedicated officer to work in the store from open to close. This ensured consistent deterrence, active risk management and a rapid response to any incidents or concerns. Having a continual on-site presence also supported staff confidence and improved customer safety.

Distribution planning and development

Working closely with the client, we translated multiple discussions and assessments into a detailed distribution security plan. This included a full risk assessment of both retail and distribution operations, recommendations for systems and processes, and clear guidance on how to protect stock across the supply chain.

The results

Through a combination of hands-on support and strategic planning, the client gained a complete, scalable security framework suited to both their first store and future retail growth.

A full risk assessment and tailored security plan for retail and distribution

Reduced risk of shrinkage through proactive on-site guarding

Clear processes for staff safety, stock handling and loss prevention

Confidence to launch the retail store with robust security in place

By integrating our systems, the client gained better visibility of staff performance, patrol activity and overall site security. The result: a safer, more efficient operation with lower risk and higher confidence in their overnight cover.
