Creating a safe, family-friendly environment at a hospitality venue

Updated: December 19, 2025 | Written by: Diane Johnson

Industry: Events and Hospitality

Client type: A sports and events venue hosting regular fixtures and family-friendly gatherings

The challenge:

The client runs regular events and sports fixtures that attract a diverse audience, from families and community groups to sports fans. They were using a mix of licensed stewards and door supervisors, but their existing supplier was failing to meet requirements – both in terms of staffing levels and staff experience.

The venue wanted to maintain a calm, welcoming, and family-oriented atmosphere where guests could relax and enjoy the event. However, the presence of alcohol at licensed events increased the risk of disagreements or disruptive behaviour. With many events streamed online, there was also a reputational risk if incidents were to occur in view of the cameras.

The challenge lay in creating a feel-good atmosphere for families while managing the potential for conflict in a lively environment influenced by weather, emotions and crowd dynamics.

Our solution:

Rapid response

We mobilised quickly – receiving the call on a Tuesday and putting experienced staff in place for the next event on the Friday. This ensured there was no disruption to the venue’s schedule and immediate reassurance for the client.

Experienced staff

We deployed four highly trained door supervisors with extensive experience in hospitality and event environments. They were skilled in recognising early warning signs of tension and intervening before issues escalated.

Professional presence

To suit the venue’s image, our team wore smart uniforms – shirts, ties and overcoats instead of standard high-visibility jackets. This professional presentation helped maintain a welcoming environment while also acting as a strong visual deterrent to potential incidents.

The results

Our involvement helped restore a positive, family-friendly atmosphere at the venue. With experienced officers on hand, potential issues were identified and resolved early – often through calm, proactive engagement rather than enforcement.

Early intervention prevented altercations and maintained a calm environment

Guests felt comfortable and safe throughout the event

Venue staff could focus on hospitality and guest experience

Reduced reputational risk through visible professionalism and control

Our staff struck the right balance between hospitality and authority, ensuring guests could relax and enjoy the event while feeling reassured that security was present and in control. The client’s management team gained peace of mind knowing their venue was protected by professionals capable of maintaining both safety and atmosphere.
