Strengthening overnight security and lone worker safety

Updated: December 19, 2025 | Written by: Phil Wright

Industry: Distribution

Client type: A nationwide distributor serving both trade and retail customers

The challenge:

The client’s overnight security had previously been managed by an in-house team member, who was looking to change their working pattern. Rather than re-hiring internally, the business explored the option of bringing in external security support to complement their existing daytime cover.

Due to the nature of stored materials, the site carried a high fire risk – making it vital to prevent unauthorised access or attempted arson. Staff also frequently worked alone, both during the day and overnight, which raised welfare and communication concerns.

The client needed a reliable partner to strengthen overnight security, improve lone worker safety, and align with their existing in-house systems.

Our solution:

Overnight security cover

We provided professional overnight cover, working in partnership with the client’s in-house daytime security team. This ensured consistent protection of the site 24 hours a day, with clear handovers and continuity between shifts.

Lone worker support

The client adopted our lone worker technology to enhance safety for their own staff. This included welfare checks and scheduled calls throughout the night to ensure all personnel were accounted for and supported.

Shared systems and processes

To improve integration, we shared our digital systems and reporting tools with the client. This allowed both teams to use mirrored processes for patrols, tagging, and incident reporting – ensuring full visibility and rapid response to any on-site issue.

The results

Together with the client, we developed a successful hybrid security model that combined the strength of their in-house team with the expertise and reliability of outsourced support.

Achieved seamless co-ordination between internal and external teams

Reduced lone worker risk through technology-based welfare checks

Improved reporting, task management and incident tracking

Enhanced fire risk prevention and site safety overnight

By integrating our systems, the client gained better visibility of staff performance, patrol activity and overall site security. The result: a safer, more efficient operation with lower risk and higher confidence in their overnight cover.
